The event, also known as the European Route Development Forum, will take place in the central Polish city from April 26-28, 2021, officials said at a news conference on Wednesday.

Representatives from some 100 airlines, nearly 300 airports and many tourist organisations are expected to attend the forum, seeing it as an opportunity to network and establish new business relationships, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

It quoted Janusz Janiszewski, head of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency, as saying that the 16th European Route Development Forum hosted by Łódź would spur the development of Poland’s aviation industry.

This year's Routes Europe will take place in Bergen, Norway.

Poland’s Warsaw and Kraków previously hosted the event, which has been held annually since 2006.
