Doctors believe that plasma from the blood of such donors can speed up the recovery of coronavirus patients and lessen the severity of their symptoms.

Regional blood donation centres in Poland will be able to collect such plasma towards the end of this week, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Private broadcaster TVN reported that everyone in Poland who has recovered from the COVID-19 disease - over 400 patients so far - will be invited to become a potential donor.

A total of 6,934 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in Poland, with 245 deaths from the COVID-19 disease, officials said on Monday afternoon.
