Beginning May 25, children in grades one to three of elementary school can take part in daycare programmes, under new rules approved by Poland’s government amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Also, students in their senior years of elementary and secondary school can now visit schools for one-on-one consultations with their teachers ahead of key exams.
From June 1, all elementary and high school students will be able to come to school in person for such face-to-face consultations.
Meanwhile, regular classes at all levels of Polish schools remain suspended until at least June 7 as part of efforts to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
Poland on March 12 shut all schools and universities for two weeks as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The closure was then extended until April 26 and later again until May 24.
The country’s education ministry said in March that about 95 percent of schools in Poland were ready for an extended period of distance learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, nurseries and preschools throughout the country were given the green light to resume operations from May 6.
A total of 21,326 people have tested positive for the COVID-19 disease in Poland, with 996 deaths from the coronavirus so far, officials said on Sunday afternoon.
