Meanwhile, Dutch cyclist Fabio Jakobsen, badly injured in a horrific finish-line crash during the first stage of this year’s Tour de Pologne, has been brought out of an induced coma by doctors at a hospital in the southern Polish city of Sosnowiec.

Doctors said on Friday Jakobsen was in “good” condition after undergoing a complicated five-hour operation involving oral surgeons and ear, nose and throat specialists.

The rider had suffered extensive craniofacial injuries and was resuscitated at the scene of the crash in Katowice, southern Poland, earlier this week.
