A vaccine developed by US drug maker Moderna will be used to immunize this group of patients, Deputy Health Minister Anna Goławska told parliament on Thursday.

She added that citizens with cancer would be able to make appointments for COVID-19 shots on a priority basis.

Frontline healthcare workers were first in line to be inoculated in Poland, followed by nursing home residents. Other priority groups for vaccination include the elderly, teachers, people with chronic health conditions, police, and soldiers.

Almost 3 million COVID-19 vaccine shots have been administered in Poland so far, officials said on Thursday.
