The figure was 0.3 percentage points higher than forecast by economists polled by Poland’s PAP news agency.

In June, the prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 4.4 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the Central Statistical Office.

In May, Poland's consumer price index stood at 4.7 percent, the state-run statistics agency has said.

Poland’s central bank this month raised its inflation forecasts for the country, saying it expects the consumer price index to hit 4.2 percent this year, followed by 3.3 percent in 2022.

Poland’s central bank chief, Adam Glapiński, in early July dismissed short-term concerns over inflation in an interview with the Financial Times.
