Employment, wages up in Polish firms y/y in September: stats office

Employment in Polish companies rose by 0.6 percent in September on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector in September increased by 8.7 percent compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run statistics agency reported.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 5,841.16 (EUR 1,275, USD 1,485), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

Poland’s labour ministry this month estimated that the country's unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percentage points in September to 5.6 percent.
