No medal for Poland at Beijing Paralympics

Polish athletes did not manage to win a medal at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, which ended on Sunday.

Host nation China finished top of the standings, with a total of 61 medals, including 18 golds, while athletes from war-torn Ukraine finished a remarkable second in the medals table, with 11 gold medals and 29 podium finishes.

Eleven disabled Polish athletes competed in the Paralympic Winter Games, which took place in Beijing from March 4 to 13.

More than 560 competitors from around the world took part in the event, which celebrated the sporting talent of athletes with various impairments.

Team Poland competed in four sports, cross-country skiing, biathlon, Alpine skiing and snowboarding.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio was a media partner of the Polish team at the Beijing Paralympics.

Poland has won a total of 45 medals, 11 gold, six silver and 28 bronze, at the winter Paralympic Games since they were first held in Sweden in 1976, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

Poland's Katarzyna Rogowiec, a former Paralympic cross-country skiing champion, last year won the I'mPOSSIBLE award from the International Paralympic Committee for contributing to a more inclusive world.
