Speaking at an international business conference on Monday, Morawiecki said the prospects for economic growth in Poland this year and next remained "very solid."

He told the conference that the Polish economy "has not only recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, but is on a very fast growth path," as evidenced by robust data on industrial production and retail sales.

"I think the GDP will grow at least 4 percent" in both 2022 and 2023, Morawiecki said at the opening of the 14th European Economic Congress in the southern Polish city of Katowice.

"But for this we need one thing: Europe must emerge victorious from the clash with Russia" over its invasion of Ukraine, he added.

The Polish economy grew 7.3 percent in the final quarter of last year, according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).
