In one of her career's biggest moments, the 24-year-old Pole outplayed the 27-year-old Slovak 6-4, 6-4 in their second-round women's singles match at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament in the British capital on Thursday.

Fręch, who is ranked world No. 92 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), will next face Romania's world No. 18 Simona Halep for a place in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, Poland’s world No. 1 Iga Świątek has booked a spot in the third round of the women's singles at Wimbledon with a tough three-set win over Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove of the Netherlands on Thursday.

She next takes on Alizé Cornet of France.

Świątek in 2018 won the Girls' Singles title at Wimbledon.
