The European Commission said on Monday it "has approved a EUR 140 million (PLN 670 million) Polish scheme to support companies in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine."

The EU executive added it was giving the green light to the support under temporary state aid rules it adopted in March and amended in July.

It also said that the aid would take the form of direct grants and loans "to companies of all sizes affected by the crisis and active in all sectors, except the financial sector."

According to the European Commission's statement, the support will not exceed EUR 62,000 "per company active in the primary production of agricultural products," EUR 75,000 "per company active in the fishery and aquaculture sectors," and EUR 500,000 "per company active in all other sectors."

Monday was day 166 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
