In a message to members of “the Orthodox Church, the Greek Catholic Church and other Eastern Churches in Poland,” the Polish president said: On the occasion of the Nativity of Christ, I would like to wish you all the best: prosperity, happiness and peace.”
He added: “May this special time fill your hearts with joy and provide an opportunity for many warm meetings with your loved ones.”
Duda also said in his message that “the traditional Christmas customs and rituals reflect the beauty and richness of Polish culture.”
Poland’s Roman Catholics were on Monday celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany 12 days after Christmas.
About 93 percent of Poles declare themselves to be Catholics, according to statistics released by church officials last year.
The Polish president last month sent greetings to members of his country’s Jewish community as it celebrated the holiday of Hanukkah.
