The figure was lower than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 6.4 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
Meanwhile, in month-on-month terms, industrial production in December decreased by 9.4 percent compared with November, the Central Statistical Office said.
The latest batch of economic data came after the office reported on Tuesday that employment in Polish companies increased 2.6 percent last month on average in year-on-year terms.
The Polish economy grew 3.9 percent in the third quarter of last year, the Central Statistical Office said in November in a final estimate.
