In a video statement posted by the presidential office, the President's chief of staff Krzysztof Szczerski said that the leaders discussed Polish-US collaboration amid the epidemic, NATO's involvement in the fight against coronavirus, and joint efforts to stave off its impact on the economy.
“President Andrzej Duda told president Donald Trump that Poland was sending a medical military mission to Chicago, Illinois to help its health service but also to have Polish and US doctors gain and share experience in the ongoing effort of treating Covid-19 patients,” Szczerski said. The call was held at the US leader’s initiative, he added.
On Saturday Trump wrote on Twitter: “Spending the morning speaking to leaders of various countries including Poland, South Korea and Bahrain."
According to the White House readout of the presidents’ call, Trump thanked Duda for his efforts on 5G security as well as for committing to send supplies and Polish doctors to Chicago to assist in America’s fight against the virus.
“President Duda thanked President Trump for the presence of American service members stationed in Poland,” the White House statement reads.
