Many regions of Italy have started recruiting doctors to travel to the borders of Ukraine and help bring medical treatment to civilians.

Polish Radio reporter Paweł Kurek, who is in Lviv, spoke to Delfina, an Italian volunteer who came to Ukraine with a charity organisation called Casetta Rossa.

She told him: "We said to ourselves: 'We have to do something. Let's go.' Maybe we will not do that much because we are just bringing some medicines and taking some people back, and so many people there now need support, but at least we are trying to do something. We hope this will end very soon."
