The bloody World War II revolt in the Polish capital was a heroic act of resistance in which poorly equipped Polish fighters took up arms against the country’s Nazi German invaders.

The city's Warsaw Rising Museum has announced a programme of events for the annual commemoration of the outbreak of the uprising on August 1.

Along with official ceremonies, meetings with veterans, memorial marches, theatrical productions and other events, it has become a tradition for the museum to invite leading Polish musicians to record a special album for the occasion and then present it at a premiere concert on its premises.

Elżbieta Krajewska spoke to Kasia Sienkiewicz and Jacek Sienkiewicz, who together form the band Kwiat Jabłoni, to find out more about this year's project.
