Held by the Institute of New Europe, a Polish NGO, the event was attended by officials from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, businessmen and experts from the Polish Academy of Sciences as well as Romanian, Czech, Hungarian and Latvian experts from the Three Seas Think Tanks Hub.
The Three Seas Initiative: Key Opportunities and Challenges for Economic Cooperation conference focused on the future of cooperation as part of the regional drive, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine.
"The Three Seas Initiative has a long way to go but we are in a good starting position," Stefan Tompson, the moderator of the conference's first panel, told Radio Poland's Klaudiusz Madeja.
He added: "The groundwork has been set; people are aware of this initiative; it exists; the projects have been outlined and defined. We are on our way to make this a reality."
The Polish-led Three Seas Initiative aims to boost infrastructure, energy and business ties among 12 countries between the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.
The initiative brings together Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The initiative’s key partners include the European Union and the United States.
