Poles encouraged to visit archaeological sites, explore history

A host of archaeological sites and laboratories across Poland are available to history buffs as part of the European Archaeology Days celebration, which is now in its 14th year.

The annual event is held in the 46 member countries of the Council of Europe and includes meetings with archaeologists, exhibitions and workshops.

It offers opportunities for enthusiasts, families and the curious to discover archaeological heritage throughout Europe.

In Poland, many cultural institutions threw their doors open to visitors on Friday, encouraging them to explore the country's fascinating past.
