Athletics: Poland's Swoboda clocks world lead in women's 60m

Polish sprinter Ewa Swoboda has set a world lead time of 7.04 seconds in the women’s 60 metres at a track-and-field meeting in her home country.

Meanwhile, countrywoman Pia Skrzyszowska clocked the fastest time in Europe this year in the women's 60 metres hurdles, with 7.85 seconds, at the Orlen Cup event in the central Polish city of Łódź on Saturday.

Several other Polish track-and-field athletes also showed good form ahead of the world indoor championships in Glasgow in early March.

In the men's 60m hurdles, Poland's Jakub Szymański finished runner-up with a time of 7.53 seconds, behind Italy's Lorenzo Simonelli, while countryman Damian Czykier finished third in 7.67 seconds.

The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships will be held in Glasgow from March 1 to 3.
