Meanwhile, Dan’s opponent in Romania's recent presidential runoff—far-right, pro-Moscow politician George Simion—has endorsed Poland's conservative candidate, Karol Nawrocki.

Agnieszka Bielawska spoke with Claudiu Năsui, an economist and lawmaker from the liberal Save Romania Union (USR), the fourth-largest party in the Romanian parliament, to discuss the current political landscape in Bucharest and what lessons Poland might draw from it ahead of its own runoff vote on Sunday.
