More European Union countries are joining the bloc’s “drone wall” initiative, designed to strengthen security and counter what officials describe as increasingly provocative Russian behaviour.

On Friday, the European Commission will hold a video conference with participating member states, including Poland, to discuss the project.

Modelled on a similar Ukrainian programme, the initiative aims to bolster surveillance and defences along the EU’s eastern edges.

The move comes after a series of recent incidents blamed on Moscow. Drone activity disrupted air traffic in Denmark and Norway, while Russian military aircraft carried out provocative flyovers near German navy vessels and Polish energy infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, officials said.
