Poland seeks safeguards in EU-Mercosur trade deal talks

Poland, alongside France and Italy, is opposing the current version of the EU’s trade agreement with the Mercosur bloc of South American countries, calling for stronger safeguards for farmers.

A planned decision on protective clauses has been postponed, as divisions within the bloc persist and farmer protests continue.

Despite the delays, EU officials say work on the agreement is ongoing, with a possible signing expected in January.
