Polish beach cleaner strikes amber jackpot

Accompanied by his unusual team of a goose, a duck and a dog, Dariusz Brzeski has been removing so-called ghost nets—discarded fishing gear that can continue to trap and kill fish, birds and marine mammals.

But while sorting through marine debris this week, he made an extraordinary find: a half-kilogram piece of amber.

"It’s truly incredible, and there’s a good chance it contains some kind of inclusions," Brzeski said in a video recorded at Poland’s Hel Peninsula.

"It feels very symbolic to me, this little reward was hiding in a place everyone else had simply ignored," he added.

Michał Owczarek has the story.
