Although the country has seen some rainfall in recent days, experts caution that it is not enough to prevent drought conditions, as soil moisture levels remain below normal.
Poland’s state meteorological service has reported that river stations across the country are still recording low water flow and levels, with the risk of drought persisting.
“This is one of the worst situations in the history of hydrological measurements in the country, which have been conducted for over a hundred years," said Grzegorz Walijewski from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW).
"Of more than 600 river-measuring stations in Poland, 90 have recorded levels below the norm," he told public broadcaster Polish Radio. "This is what we describe as a hydrological drought."
