The ruling Social Democratic Party said on Wednesday it had picked Social Affairs Minister Inga Ruginienė as its candidate for the top government job.
“Without a doubt, our relationship with Poland—particularly in terms of security and defence—needs to be further deepened and strengthened," Ruginienė told public broadcaster Polish Radio on Wednesday.
“I’m glad we have such neighbours. This partnership is ongoing, and I’m fully committed to continuing it,” she added.
Lithuania’s former prime minister resigned last week amid a corruption investigation.
