Poland faces surge in anti-Ukrainian hostility

Poland has seen a noticeable increase in anti-Ukrainian incidents in recent weeks ranging from acts of vandalism and online hate campaigns to verbal and physical attacks, raising concerns about growing hostility towards the country's Ukrainian community.

A growing number of anti-Ukrainian incidents in Poland has prompted concern among officials and civil society groups who warn that hostile rhetoric may lead to tragedy.

"I would primarily blame politicians who, for their own political gain, have spent not just weeks or months, but years promoting anti-Ukrainian rhetoric," Anna Tatar of anti-racism NGO Never Again told public broadcaster Polish Radio.
