Archaeologists uncover remains of Viking town in northwestern Poland

Polish and Danish archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a major, exceptionally well-preserved Viking town in Wolin, northwestern Poland, an area that served as a massive, multi-ethnic trading hub in the Baltic region.

Excavations at the site, known as Silver Hill, yielded traces of an ancient amber workshop along with numerous artifacts such as pottery and bone fragments.

The project is a joint effort between the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAP) and Denmark's Aarhus University aimed at preserving the site and securing its inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
