A total of 445 MPs backed the proposal on Thursday, 11 abstained and there were no votes against the plan, the state PAP news agency reported.

The bill envisages an import embargo on Russian coal and an asset freeze against entities and individuals involved in propping up the Kremlin’s attack on Ukraine, among other provisions, according to officials.

In addition, the proposal includes a ban on the use and dissemination of symbols supporting Russia’s war against Poland’s eastern neighbour, PAP reported.

The vote in the lower house of Poland's parliament came as Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine entered its seventh week.
