Addressing Group of Seven and European leaders, alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Sunday, Johnson told them that the world must do more to help Ukraine, according a statement by his office.

Johnson was quoted as saying during the video call that Ukrainian troops needed to be provided with military equipment that would allow them to not just hold ground, but recapture it.

G7 and European leaders meeting online on Sunday agreed that the world must intensify economic pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin in any way possible, Johnson's office said in its statement.

Johnson said in a tweet that that the leaders agreed to intensify the West's economic and military support for Ukraine.

"We also agreed more must be done to underpin food security and ensure agricultural exports can leave the country," he tweeted.

Earlier this month, Johnson became the first Western leader to address the parliament in Kyiv, where he was given numerous standing ovations for his steadfast support for the Ukrainian cause.

Johnson last month promised to step up military aid to Ukraine amid Russia's offensive in the eastern Donbas region.
