The warning has been issued in Russia’s Western Military District, Poland’s kresy24.pl website reported on Monday, citing Ukrainian government sources.

Officers’ families are banned from leaving Russia; moreover, “if an officer refuses to take part in a military mission in Ukraine, his wife and children could be relocated to remote parts of Russia,” kresy24.pl said.

Russia to deport relatives of several officers

According to Ukraine’s intelligence agencies, commanders in Russia’s Western Military District have already decided to deport the relatives of several officers from the 6th Air and Air Defence Forces Army, kresy24.pl reported.

These officers represent the 332nd helicopters’ regiment, which is based in St. Petersburg, the website added.

Their families are being deported because “the wives of helicopter pilots decided to take a rest abroad while their husbands launch rocket and bomb attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population around the city of Slobozhanske,” Ukraine’s Air Defence Ministry said, according to kresy24.pl.

Russian unit refuses to fight in Donbas

Meanwhile, a call intercepted by Ukraine’s SBU security service reportedly revealed that Russian contract soldiers in the Donbas region almost killed a general who had arrived to force them to fight, kresy24.pl reported.

When Lt. Gen. Valery Solodchuk began to threaten the mutinous troops with a gun, one of the soldiers unlocked a grenade, saying "we'll blow up together here," according to kresy.24.pl.

At that, Solodchuk’s bodyguards from the Specnaz special forces pointed their guns at the soldiers, who did the same, kresy24.pl wrote.

The soldier relating the situation is heard saying: “We almost shot each other,” as cited by kresy24.pl.

“Of 600 people, we have 215 people remaining … He [the general] got in his car and left …  After his words I don’t want to stay here at all,” the Russian soldier adds, according to kresy24.pl.

Monday is day 96 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
