Poland's top diplomat Zbigniew Rau and his French counterpart Catherine Colonna are expected to talk about the latest developments in the security situation in Europe, including in the context of an upcoming NATO summit in Madrid, the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement.

It added that Rau and Colonna would also focus on "prospects for further political and humanitarian support for Ukraine and its European aspirations."

Other topics include "key issues in cooperation between the two countries," both bilateral and as part of the Weimar Triangle group, which also includes Germany, the Polish foreign ministry said.

Poland's Rau is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia this week in his role as chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
