Zelensky’s comment came after a meeting with British Defence Minister Ben Wallace on Friday.

The two politicians discussed international security guarantees for Ukraine , as well as ways to put an end to Russian blockade of Ukraine’s Black Sea ports.

Poland’s PAP state news agency reported that during the meeting, Wallace reiterated his country’s support for Ukraine.

In a video address to the nation on Thursday night, Zelensky said that his country has made gains over Russia in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region and around the northeastern city of Kharkiv.

The Ukrainian head of state said: “We have some positive news in the Zaporizhzhia region where it is possible to thwart the plans of the occupiers."

Meanwhile, “Severodonetsk, Lysychansk and other cities of Donbas, which the occupiers now consider to be the primary targets, still stand,” Zelensky emphasised.

Ukraine is one of the top exporters of grain worldwide.

However, due to the war and the resulting Russian blockade of Black Sea ports, it has been unable to bring its harvest to the world.

Last week, the United Nations warned that the total number of people suffering from acute hunger could rise by 47 million, if the war in Ukraine continues.
