As it battles the Russian invasion, Ukraine is making use of various Polish-made weapons, including self-propelled Krab (Crab) gun howitzers, according to officials.

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian armed forces, Gen. Valeriy Zaluzhny, on Friday posted a video on social media showing the Polish howitzers in action against the Russians, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

It cited Zaluzhny as saying in a Facebook post that "weapons, ammunition, and equipment provided by partner countries" were helping the Ukrainian army "defend peace in Ukraine and throughout Europe."

In the video, the Ukrainian military says it is "sincerely grateful to the Polish people for the effective support and assistance," the PAP news agency reported.

Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malar last month thanked Poland for supplying her country with military equipment and for welcoming refugees fleeing Russia's invasion.

In early June, officials announced that Poland would sell 54 Krab gun howitzers to Ukraine for PLN 3 billion (EUR 650 million).

In late May, Poland sent 18 such howitzers to Ukraine as part of its security assistance for the country, public broadcaster Polish Radio reported at the time.

The Krab gun howitzer is capable of firing at a range of up to 40 kilometres. It is produced by Poland’s state-run arms maker PGZ, and features a South Korean chassis and German engine parts, according to the PAP news agency.
