The broadcaster on Thursday aired a report from Ukraine’s embattled Donbas region, featuring Ukrainian troops who praised the advanced capabilities and precision of the Krab, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

CNN filmed Ukrainian soldiers using a Krab system to shell Russian positions 30 km away, before hiding the howitzer from potential return fire, the whole “shoot-and-scoot” operation taking about 2 to 3 minutes, according to PAP.

‘Beast of battle’

Vasyl, a gun commander, told CNN that the Krabs are “so much better than what we had before; it’s mobile, we’re out of danger fast.”

Meanwhile, ex-math teacher Artem, a battery commander, praised the Krabs for being “user-friendly” and “accurate” thanks to their GPS systems.

CNN reported that the excellent battlefield performance of the “NATO-compatible,” “beast-of-battle” Krab guns has prompted Kyiv to buy a further 56 machines from Poland, in addition to the 18 Krabs that had been donated by the government in Warsaw, the PAP news agency said.

Friday is day 170 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
