In the morning of 31 October, Russia launched more than 50 cruise missiles targeted at Ukraine’s key infrastructural objects.
Though 44 of the rockets were shot down by the Ukrainian army, the bombings resulted in power outages, as well as water supply and mobile network disruptions across the war-ravaged country.
Ukrainian PM, Denys Shmyhal, on Monday said that the Russians mounted attacks on 10 regions and caused damage to 18 objects, most of which were energy facilities.
A spokesman for the Odessa Oblast, Serhiy Bratchuk, estimated that the barrage of cruise missile strikes could have incurred a cost of up to USD 600 million.
He said that this amount is equal to the annual budget of Russia’s third and fourth-largest cities of Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg.
The Russians reportedly used Ch-101 and Ch-555 cruise missiles, worth $13 million and $7.5 million per item, respectively.
