In the eastern Donetsk region, Russian forces have been reinforced by troops withdrawn from Kherson City, which Ukraine recaptured last week, the Ukrainian military said in a statement on Friday.
It reported that Russian forces fired artillery strikes on the town of Bakhmut and nearby Soledar, among other locations.
Russian fire also hit Balakliya in the northeastern Kharkiv region, which Ukraine recaptured in September, and Nikopol, a city on the opposite bank of the Kakhovka reservoir from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the Reuters news agency reported, citing Ukrainian officials.

Ukrainian authorities said they were working to restore power nationwide after days of heavy Russian bombardment of civilian infrastructure.

Russian forces 'partially vulnerable to Ukrainian interdiction campaign': ISW
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian forces in the eastern part of Ukraine's southern Kherson region were "likely partially vulnerable to a Ukrainian interdiction campaign such as the one Ukrainian forces successfully exploited to retake western Kherson Oblast."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops "continued targeting Russian military assets and concentration areas on the east bank of Kherson Oblast and in the rear areas of Zaporizhia Oblast," the Washington-based think tank said in its latest analysis of Russia's military campaign in Ukraine.
Friday is day 268 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
