The Secretary of Defense made the statement following the meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in the US airbase in Ramstein, Germany.
Austin said that Ukraine's allies “will support Ukraine’s self-defense for as long as it takes.” “We need to keep our momentum and resolve,” he continued; “We need to dig even deeper.”
Austin sought to heal rifts appearing among allies by reducing the significance of Leopard tanks, delayed by German opposition. He said that success in Ukraine is not dependent on just one military platform. He also emphasized that Germany remains a "reliable ally".
