While no details of the meeting were immediately released to the media, Duda told reporters before his visit to Buckingham Palace that he was hoping to discuss humanitarian issues with King Charles.

"I know that His Majesty King Charles is very much involved in these matters," Duda said in an interview on Thursday.

"I also know that the royal family has allocated significant funds to help Ukraine and Ukrainians," he added. "So they are very active in this area. They are very sensitive and we will certainly talk about that."

On Thursday, Duda met with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in London to discuss European security and further support for Ukraine, according to officials.

His talks with Sunak and two-day visit to the British capital were part of Duda’s diplomatic offensive ahead of US President Joe Biden’s trip to Poland next week.

On Wednesday, the Polish president met with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, Belgium, and held a video call with the Slovak head of state, Zuzana Čaputová, and Lithuanian leader Gitanas Nausėda, according to officials.

After holding talks with King Charles at Buckingham Palace on Friday, Duda headed to Germany to attend the annual Munich Security Conference and meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Friday is day 359 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
