Russia’s military death toll in Ukraine rises to 243,680

Russia has now lost some 243,680 soldiers in Ukraine since President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said.

The military command in Kyiv issued the latest update via social media on Wednesday, Ukraine’s state news agency Ukrinform reported.

Russia’s combat deaths on the battlefields of Ukraine have now reached 243,680, including 460 troops killed over the past day, the Ukrainian General Staff said.

Meanwhile, when it comes to military equipment, Russia has now lost 4,177 tanks (including three over the last 24 hours), 8,136 armoured fighting vehicles (of which five during the last day) and 4,727 artillery systems (including 22 over the past 24 hours), Ukrainian officials said. 

Other material losses for Russia’s invading forces have included 315 aircraft, 1,307 cruise missiles and 3,993 operational-tactical unmanned aerial vehicles, including 16 over the last day, the General Staff in Kyiv said.    

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 518 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
