Senior Russian officers killed in attack on occupied Crimea

Nine Russian officers were killed and 16 were injured in the wake of a Ukrainian rocket attack on the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, according to Ukrainian officials.

On Friday, Ukrainian forces hit the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet in the port city of Sevastopol, in the Moscow-occupied Crimean peninsula.

Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, said that the attack resulted in the death of nine Russian officers, while further 16 were injured, among them two generals.

The attack was prepared by the Ukrainian army's special operations command. The rockets struck the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet during a staff briefing.

On Saturday morning, Ukrainian forces launched another missile attack on Crimea, targeting military facilities in the city of Sevastopol, in the Russian-occupied peninsula.
