The event at the G2A Arena brings together central and local policymakers, business leaders and NGO officials who “actively support Ukraine on its path to freedom and reconstruction,” according to organisers, the World for Ukraine Foundation (W4UAF).
The Summit’s main topics and themes are related to “the short- and long-term humanitarian, social and economic challenges faced by Ukraine and Ukrainians due to the current situation,” officials told reporters.
They include “refugee support, rehabilitation of those afflicted as a result of the war, securing the public health sector, family welfare, child care, securing housing needs, education, efficient public administration, war crime accountability, adapting the judicial system to the wartime challenges, protecting cultural heritage, delivering key services, rebuilding of the economy, strengthening the IT sector, municipal partnerships, maintaining business relationships, food and energy safety and many more,” World for Ukraine Foundation said.
Among the partners of World for Ukraine Summit 2023 are the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, Ukraine’s Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the Polish city of Rzeszów and Ukraine’s western city of Lviv, among others.
Speakers include Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Anastasia Bondar, Rzeszów Mayor Konrad Fijołek and Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs Tetiana Kalyta, among others.
Dariusz Szymczycha, deputy chairman of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, told the event on Thursday: “The small-scale reconstruction of Ukraine is already underway, while the postwar reconstruction of Ukraine will represent a big project of the democratic world.”
The official added: “Thanks to its role as a logistics hub, Poland is bound to benefit from this process.”
The World for Ukraine Summit 2023 runs until Friday.
Thursday is day 582 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
