Ukraine repels Russian missile attack on Kyiv: officials

Ukraine has fought off a Russian air attack on the capital Kyiv, intercepting all incoming missiles, but 53 people were injured in the process, according to officials.

Russia launched a wave of ballistic missiles against Kyiv around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, the Ukrainska Pravda website reported.

Ukraine's air force said it had shot down all 10 missiles fired by Moscow's forces.

Missile debris fell on Kyiv's Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi and Desnianskyi districts, injuring 53 people, including children, according to officials.

Missile fragments also damaged residential buildings, set cars ablaze and damaged a water supply system, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

The missile strike on Kyiv came amid reports that Russia was launching a winter strikes campaign against Ukraine.

Ukrainian cyberattack paralyses Russia's tax system: reports

Ukraine's military intelligence service has carried out a successful cyberattack on Russia's tax system, the Espreso TV website reported on Tuesday night. 

Ukraine injected malware into the servers of the Russian Federal Tax Service, "paralysing its work" and "destroying the entire database," according to officials. 

Swiss firm to send demining platforms to Ukraine

Swiss company Global Clearance Solutions (GCS) has announced it will provide Ukraine with 60 remote-controlled demining machines by mid-2024.

GCS's robotic demining platform can clear an area of explosive ordnance, carry out light excavation, transport cargo, dig up soil, and uproot trees, Ukraine's Militarnyi website reported on Tuesday.

Wednesday is day 658 of Russia's war on Ukraine.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
