"Today, an 11-year-old boy died in the hospital from injuries sustained in the shelling," the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said in a post on the Telegram messaging app.

Syniehubov added that the child’s 58-year-old father was killed when Russian forces shelled the village of Novoosynove in the northeastern Kharkiv region on Tuesday, state news agency Ukrinform reported.

The man and the boy were in their backyard when the Russians began to shell the village, according to Ukrinform.

In a separate incident on Tuesday, one person was killed in the southern Kherson region, where the Russians shelled 11 cities, including Kherson City and Beryslav, Polish state news agency PAP reported, citing regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military said on Wednesday that the country's air force destroyed all four Shahed drones used in Russia's overnight attack on Ukraine's central regions.

The drones were shot down over the Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr regions, according to the Ukrainian military.

Separately, a Russian missile attack on Tuesday damaged four educational facilities and nine residential buildings in the southeastern city of Dnipro, injuring 18 people, the Dnipropetrovsk region's governor reported on Wednesday morning via Telegram, as cited by the Reuters news agency.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 770 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
