Speaking during his visit to the United States, Zelenskyy emphasized that a resolute stance from Washington is crucial in bringing the conflict to a close.

During meetings with a bipartisan delegation from the U.S. Congress, Zelenskyy highlighted the potential for deeper cooperation between Ukraine and the United States. “Now, at the end of the year, we have a real opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the United States,” he wrote on Telegram.

In a recent interview with ABC, Zelenskyy called for continued support for Ukraine's fight against Russia, asserting that the war's end is "closer to an end." He stressed that Ukraine can only pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the war from a position of strength.

Zelenskyy also noted that Putin is "very afraid" of Ukraine's advances in Russia's Kursk Oblast, highlighting the Russian leader’s inability to fully defend his own territory.

Zelenskyy's visit to the U.S. coincides with his participation in the UN General Assembly and meetings with President Joe Biden. Zelenskyy is expected to present his so-called "victory plan" to Biden, which he clarified is not a proposal for negotiations with Russia.

“This is not about negotiations,” Zelenskyy said in the ABC interview. “This is about a bridge leading to a diplomatic way to end the war. It’s about strengthening Ukraine, its army, and its people. Only from a strong position can we push Putin to stop the war.”

Zelenskyy's visit also includes scheduled meetings later this week with U.S. presidential candidates, including Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
