Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported strikes across Shevchenkivskyi, Kyivskyi, Kholodnohirsk and Industrial districts.
Private residences, a market and a restaurant were set ablaze, and around 90 commercial buildings were damaged, with 20 destroyed, Governor Oleh Syniehubov said.
Four civilians were wounded, but no fatalities were confirmed in Kharkiv.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a 400 sqm private home and a 700 sqm restaurant suffered major fires. In Kyivskyi, market shops spanning 500 sqm burned. Kholodnohirsk saw three cars and a kiosk engulfed, while in the Industrial district a vehicle and part of a production facility were damaged.
Southern port city Odesa also came under drone fire, Governor Oleh Kiper said, with civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, hit and one body found in a damaged home.
Authorities are assessing the full extent of the damage.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service confirmed the early-morning attack involved around 20 drones over several waves.
Russian drone strikes on eastern cities have increased in recent weeks, part of Moscow’s wider campaign against Ukrainian urban centers.
Meanwhile, for the second night in a row, Moscow’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Ukraine had launched an overnight drone assault on the Russian capital. Sobyanin claimed that at least 19 Ukrainian drones were shot down over the city, while Russia’s defense ministry said it downed more than 100 drones across the country.
The tit-for-tat drone campaign comes just three days before Russia’s annual parade on Red Square—marking the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War Two—an event that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said would proceed under a unilateral ceasefire from May 8 to 11.
He warned, however, that “an appropriate response will be given immediately” if Ukraine did not also observe the pause.
Ukraine has yet to comment publicly on its overnight strikes against Moscow. Russia says its air defenses routinely shoot down incoming drones, while Ukrainian officials say they are targeting key military and command sites.
