"Today, Russian losses in Ukraine reached one million killed and wounded in action," Sybiha wrote on X.

"1,000,000 lost for nothing—Russia has not achieved a single strategic goal of its full-scale invasion. And it won’t," he said.

Russia 'does everything to prolong the war'

"Ukraine didn’t start this war and wants it to end more than anyone else," Sybiha added. "We are committed to peace. Only Russia obstructs peace efforts, rejects ceasefire and leaders’ meeting, and does everything to prolong the war."

He also said that "the pressure on the aggressor must be increased" and called for Russia's military and political leadership to be held accountable for its "barbaric and illegal aggression."

"All Russian criminals who committed atrocities in Ukraine must face justice," Sybiha wrote.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Thursday that Russia’s total combat losses in the war against Ukraine have reached approximately 1,340,000 troops since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022.

Of that number, about 1,140 were lost in the past 24 hours, the military said.
