Ukrainian actor Yurii Felipenko dies while serving on front line

Ukrainian actor Yurii Felipenko has been killed while serving on the front line, his wife has confirmed in an emotional social media post.

Ukrainian actor Yurii Felipenko, who became a drone operator, was killed in combat on June 15 at the age of 32.

Felipenko, 32, joined Ukraine’s 92nd Assault Brigade in 2024 as part of the “Achilles” drone battalion, following Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Known for his roles in Ukrainian television dramas and performances at Kyiv’s Academic Drama Theatre, he left acting to join the military.

His wife, Kateryna Motrych, announced his death on 15 June via Instagram, calling him her “world, soul, and light”, and said the loss was impossible to describe.

Death reportedly occurred during combat operations. A farewell ceremony is expected, with further details to follow.
