Russian overnight drone-and-missile strikes on Kyiv injured at least 23 civilians and damaged the Polish embassy’s consular building, prompting chief diplomat Radosław Sikorski to implore US President Donald Trump to resume halted air-defense deliveries.

Russian drones probably exploded above the consular roof around 00:30, scattering fragments that pierced its cladding and scarred the façade, embassy spokesperson Paweł Wroński told state-owned Polish Press Agency.

“Nobody was hurt, but our staff spend almost every night in shelters,” he said, adding that damage is still being assessed.

Kyiv’s emergency service deployed more than 450 firefighters after debris ignited blazes on apartment blocks, a fuel station, a warehouse and rail facilities, city officials said. A five-story building in Solomianskyi district was partly destroyed and a 14-storey block in Sviatoshynsky set ablaze; several ambulances were also hit.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 539 drones, including a record 330 Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones, plus 11 missiles, seven of them ballistic. It claimed to have downed over 470 drones.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said he had spoken with Ambassador Piotr Łukasiewicz and that all diplomatic staff were safe, but stressed Ukraine’s “urgent need for air-defense means”.

Posting on X, he wrote: “President Trump, Putin is mocking your peace efforts. Please restore supplies of anti-aircraft ammunition to Ukraine and impose tough new sanctions on the aggressor.”

Washington this week confirmed it had paused transfers of Patriot PAC-3 missiles, 155 mm artillery shells, HIMARS rockets, Hellfire missiles and Stinger surface-to-air systems, saying it must “put America’s interests first”.

Ukraine’s foreign ministry summoned the U.S. chargé d’affaires, warning that delays would only encourage further Russian attacks.

Trump told reporters the United States was still shipping weapons but had to keep its own stocks adequate; he is due to speak with President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday after an inconclusive call with Vladimir Putin.
