Two people were killed in the northeastern Sumy region, one in the southern port city of Kherson, and one in Odesa in the southwest, public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported.

In Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, a Russian drone strike overnight wounded at least 47 people, including three children, local authorities said.

Several apartment buildings and a kindergarten were damaged, challenging Russia's claims that it does not target civilians, the Reuters news agency reported.

Kharkiv, located near the Russian border, has faced regular missile and drone attacks since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion more than three years ago, according to Reuters.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Monday is day 1,230 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
