In the southern Odesa region, power was restored to about 240,000 homes after drone strikes caused extensive damage to the grid, Ukraine’s energy ministry said.

Several people were injured in the attacks.

Ukraine’s air defences shot down 54 out of 78 Russian drones, most of them Iranian-made Shahed models, according to the military.

In the northern Chernihiv region, drones struck a vehicle carrying an electricity repair crew, killing two workers and injuring three others, local authorities said.

In Kyiv, energy crews reconnected 800,000 households to the grid after power and water supplies were cut off during Friday’s large-scale attack.

Water services were restored by around 6 pm local time, though repairs to the city’s energy infrastructure are still underway.

Ukraine said Russia launched around 30 missiles and more than 450 attack drones in Friday’s assault on critical infrastructure targets, one of the most intense strikes in recent weeks.
